Dear Parents/Carers,

What a great week it has been! My personal highlight was the girls football match on Wednesday.  This was their second competitive fixture and the girls were awesome. Showing all of our school values and a lot of teamwork they ran out 3-0 winners against their opponents Hempstead. Two incredible goals from Emily and another from Josie sealed the win - However, the defence were put under significant pressure throughout from some very talented Hempstead players and all stood firm to keep a well-deserved clean sheet - Well done girls!

Prime Minister Elections

This week 10 of our school ministers put themselves forward for election for the Prime Minister role. The children did a magnificent job. It takes great courage to put yourself forward and they all did themselves proud. They shared their speeches to over 250 children on Wednesday and on Friday the elections took place. ( Please see the photos below).

A huge thank you to Gloucestershire County Council who loaned us the official voting booths, ballot boxes and polling station signage to give our children the authentic experience.

The results will be returned next week!

Mental Health & Wellbeing Offer

We continue to promote our focus on children's mental health and wellbeing. This week our incredible site team have been developing and redecorating spaces to help facilitate ongoing support for those that need it. The school have a number of trained 'Thrive' practitioners that support children through understanding feelings. This offer is being developed continually.

Furthermore, Mr Floss (our School therapy dog) continues to attend on Wednesdays - This week he has helped regulate children who are finding things challenging; listened to readers; visited forest school and even monitored behaviour in Y6! The children absolutely love having him around and he really is a valued member of our school staff.

Finally, our SLT team have been working hard to secure the services of external providers to further enhance our curriculum offer and give high-quality learning opportunities to our children.

Uniform

Just a reminder regarding shoes - In order to support parents, the school has adapted its expectations to allow children to wear black trainers. Crocs/Coloured trainers should not be worn in school.

Parental behaviour on the playground

Unfortunately, I have had a report of several parents spitting on the playground. I recognise that these are isolated incidents and the vast majority of our parent/carer community are supporting the positive culture that we expect at Kingsholm. Please could I ask that all parents/carers are mindful of the example that needs to be set for our young people.

This term our value is Friendship.  Once again we asked the children to design a logo about what this means to us at Kingsholm.

We received so many wonderful designs and as always it was very difficult to choose.

Well done to Natasha who designed our lower school logo ( KS1) and to Lexi Mae who designed our upper school logo( KS2).  These are now displayed on the website - the link to which is here Kingsholm C of E Primary School and Nursery - Our Values

The next value will be shared in due course and we will ask the children to design a new logo for this value. 

Hello Forest School families and friends,

We have had another busy couple of weeks with the children really starting to settle into our Forest School site.  There has been spontaneous bug and plant spotting, using hammers, mallets, saws and the auger.  There has been huge interest in using the fire steels to make sparks and start to understand the fire triangle and how to stay safe around fire.  The children are, as always, so happy and enthusiastic in their exploration of nature and the possibilities for imaginative play, adventure and investigation all around them both as a community and alone.

As Mr Larner explained in his message, we have been voting today for our Prime Minister…….we will keep you posted!

The school councillors have been working on Courageous Advocacy, and the children are voting for which 3 charities will be chosen to support this academic year. We will let you know the results and the key dates in our next newsletter.

Kaleidoscope Children and Family Centre are hosting Community Get Togethers- This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with your neighbours, exchange ideas, and discover what’s happening in our local area, all in a welcoming and informal atmosphere. • Parking.  When dropping off and collecting the children, we ask our families to not park in the Kaleidoscope / Children's Centre.  We appreciate the limited parking areas however please do not use this provision.
• Cool Kids, Buffer and Breakfast Club - These provisions MUST be booked in advance using the link which is sent out weekly via SchoolPing.  ALL sessions need to be paid for in advance unless you pay monthly and already have this payment agreement set up and in place. If there is any outstanding debt, places will be refused until the account is cleared.
